This Saturday, February 28th, at 9:00 am, I’ll be traveling to Cornerstone Church in Henning to speak at “Write, Sisters, Write.” My mom and sister Eden will be traveling with me to encourage me.
Marlene Wahlin, the pastor’s wife and a mentor of mine, has organized this event for the past two years. She gathers women from her community and hosts a morning of speakers, fellowship, and prayer. This year’s theme is about encouraging women to share the story God has given them.
Last year, I spoke at this event with Minnesota author Stephanie Jorgenson, who has written a collection of children’s books. We both shared about God’s work in our lives which enabled us to self-publish our stories.
When Marlene asked me to speak again this year, I thought I should politely decline. These past few years, I’ve been through some major life changes and have taken a writing hiatus. Lately I haven’t felt the passion or excitement for writing that used to buoy me.
Still, I felt God’s gentle nudge to say ‘yes’ to this event. This year, I plan to share what happened beyond my publishing journey. I want to speak about how God is leading me to write for myself and for Him, even as I haven’t been writing for others. And I hope to encourage other women to do the same, to pour out their hearts to God in writing!
I will post an update on this blog after I attend this event. I hope to include some encouraging stories from “Write, Sisters, Write” and to delve more into what God has been doing in my life these past few years.
